The Rundetaarn

The Rundetaarn

A picture of the Rundetaarn, or Round Tower, one of Copenhagen’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the 17th century by King Christian IV, it originally served as an astronomical observatory and was part of a larger scientific research complex. What sets the tower apart is its unique spiral ramp — a 7.5-turn helical corridor that winds to the top, allowing visitors to ascend without using stairs.

At the summit, visitors are treated to sweeping views of Copenhagen’s historic city center, making it a favorite destination for both locals and tourists. Today, the Rundetaarn also hosts exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events in its Library Hall, seamlessly blending history with contemporary creativity.
